A regular requirement of our customers is the option to purchase power factor correction equipment to which additional reactive compensation can be added to in the future, should the need arise.

Another popular request is to have power factor correction equipment installed into existing LV distribution panels.

In order to meet the above customer requirements, Comar Benelux has designed and is manufacturing a range of power factor correction racks.

These racks (also referred to as "capacitor banks") are typically 19 inches wide and are controlled by a PF regulator in order to attain a correct power factor.

Two constraints determine the design of the racks:

  • Dimensional constraints : to accommodate panels with a width of 800 mm or 1000 mm.
  • Network constraints : Total Harmonic Distortion (THD%) present in the network that needs reactive compensation, which could require the fitment of blocking (detuned) reactors

Through the modular design of our PFC equipment, the end-user has the option to initially install basic reactive compensation and to fit additional racks at the later stage through our easy "plug & play" concept, should the need arise.
